Pejawar Mutt Swamiji visits Brahmasthana on Sunday, March 3rd
Padubidri, March 4th, 2013:  Pejawar Mutt Swamiji Shri Vishwesha Tirtha Sripada gave his blessing to the devotees at Shri Khadgeshwari Jnana Mandira of Shri Khadgeshwari Brahmasthana on Sunday.  He performed "Thottila Puje" to Lord Sri Krishna during the occasion.  Shri Vanadurga Trust's office bearers, trustees and Darshan Patris were present during the occasion.  Pejawar Mutt's Juniour Swamiji Shri Vishwaprasanna Tirtha Sripada and Subahmanya Mutt Swamiji Shri Vidyaprasanna Tirtha Sripada took part in the Dakke Bali ritual.    Read more
Gold ornaments worth Rs. 4 lakhs stolen from a house in Uchila
Uchila, March 4th, 2013L  Gold ornaments worth Rs. 4 lakhs were stolen from a house in Uchila Moolagudde  belonging to Poornima Manjunath Karkera.  The miscreants had broke open the front door lock and had gained entry into the house.  The owner of the house Poornima was living in that house with her children, as her husband Manjunath was away, working on a ship.  On Sunday around 10.30 am, she had locked the house and had gone to her parent's house in Kaipunjalu in Kaup to attend a function.  She had requested here neigbour  ....  Read more

Padubidri, March 5th, 2013:  Lions District Governor Ln. Dr. K. Madhusudhan Hegde visited Lions club Padubidri on Tuesday for his official visit.  The function was held at senior Lion member and Coastal Development Auithority member Ravidranath G. Hegde's residence.  The charter night was also celebrated during the occasion.  Lions club Padubidri was inaugurated on December 1st, 1987 and had received its official membership charter on March 5th.  All the eleven charter members were honoured with a pin and a certificate from Lions Clubs International.     Read more

PG study centre of Mangalore Univerisity - Expert Committee members in Belapu
Belapu, March 8th, 2013:   Members of an expert committee appointed by Mangalore University to prepare a feasibility report on building a Post-Graduate Study Centre of the univerisity in Udupi District, visited proposed locations in Belapu and Uppur. Padubidri Police solve the Uchila burglary case and nab the culprits
Uchila, March 9th, 2013:  The main accused of theft of gold jewellery from Uchila Mullagudde resident Poornima's house on March 3rd  has been arrested by Padubidri police and stolen ornaments have been recovered.  The accused has  been involved in other theft cases in Udupi Town police station area and has been identified as Rajesh Moily (35) from Manjarabettu house of Yelluru village.  He had stolen 12 pawans of gold ornaments from the locked house of Poornima.  Police have also arrasted Narayan Shetty from Ganadakodi Banwal with ................. Blueprint of Hejmady Kodi Fisheries Harbour Project to be forwarded to the government
Hejmady, March 12th, 2013:  The blueprint prepared by Coastal Institure of Coastal Engineering for Fishery (CICEF) for Hejmady Kodi Fisheries Harbour Project was shown to the Hejmady fishermen.  It has been approved by the fishermen for forwarding to the government.  The blue print was prepared by CICEF after undertaking survey work at Hejmady area for the last three months.  Out of available 30 hectares of vacant land, excluding the old jetty, around 12.38 hectares of land would be utilised for the modern harbour.  A break water .....    Read more

Padubidri, March 13th, 2013:  Officials from Karnataka State Highways Improvemnet Project (KSHIP) had an inspection along with the contractors R.N. Padubidri, March 23rd, 2013 (Updated):  Thousands of devotees gathered at Shri Mahalingeshwara Maha Ganapathi temple for the Ratri Maha Rathotsava.  The chariot and the temple was beautifully decorated during the occasion.  Brilliant display of fireworks started around 11.40 pm and could be seen from a long distance.  On Friday, March 22nd, traditional game of "Chendu" wasl around 4 pm and at night, there was Ratri Dhwajavarohana ceremony.  Read more
JCI  "Spandana Yatra 2013" - Blood Donation Awareness Bike Rally arrives in Padubidri
Padubidri, March 16th, 2013: Jaycees "Spandana Yatra 2013", a bike rally organised by JCI India Zone XV and hosted by JCI Bellare, in association with Indian Red Cross Society, Mangalore,  to spread awareness about blood donation, arrived in Padubidri on Saturday around and they were welcomed in front of Hotel Navrang Veg by the president and the members of JCI Padubidri.  The rally had started off from Bellare on March 16th and they would be visiting all 62 chapters of Jaycees in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada districts.  Read more

Padubidri, March 28th, 2013:  Annual Rathotsavas were held at various temple in the district and other districts in this month.  Annual Mahotsava was held at Nandikur Shri Durgaparameshwari temple was held from March 14th to 18th.  Rathotsava was held at Pavanje Shri Mahalingeshwara temple on March 15th and also at Hejmady.  Padubidri Rathotsava was held on March 21st.  And now, Annual Mahotsava being celebratedat Uchila Shri Mahalakshmi temple.   See pictures
Burglary at a hardware shop in Palimar
Palimar, March 30th, 2013:  Thieves gained entry into a hardware shop called "Dhanalaxmi Traders" owned by Palimar's renowned entrepreneur Ramdas G. Prabhu's son Dinesh Prabhu, on Friday night by breaking open the shutter and the lock of Godrej Storewell.  15 pawans of gold jewellery and around Rs. 3 lakhs in cash were stolen.  Dinesh Prabhu and his family had opened the shop on Friday evening after returning from a family function and had kept their jewellery and cash in the Godrej locker in a seperate room of the shop.   .... CICEF officials start survey work for Hejmady new fisheries harbour
Hejmady, April 3rd, 2013:  Officials from Coastal Institure of Coastal Engineering for Fishery (CICEF) started their survey work at Hejmady Kodi on Tuesday, April 2nd.  Its senior economic investigator B. Venkataramaiah and K. Anjana gathered information about all the fishermen within the service area of proposed harbour, from Bykampadi to Kaup.  This 180 crores project involves construction of a breakwater at the entrance of Shambhavi and Nandini rivers, and construction of a 470 m long jetty.  The report will include total number of ... A policeman killed in a Hit-and-run case near new police checkpost in Bappanadu

Firefighting demo held at Hejmady ZP Higher Primary School
Hejmady, April 10th, 2013:  Firefighting demonstration was held at Hejmady ZP Higher Primary School on Wednesday, April 10th.  P.Sadashiv Shettigar, Station officer of Udupi District Fire Station, and his team displayed various kind of fire fighting techniques, as a part of summer camp by Agasthya Science Centre, Udupi.  They demonstrated how to extinguish fire at places where there are no roads for the fire engine to reach.  They explained the techniques of extinguishing inflammable liquid fires, such as petrol and other products. Demonstration on the use of Coconut tree climbing machine held in Padubidri
Padubidri, April 11th, 2013:  Demonstration on the use of coconut tree climbing machine was held at Padubidri in Raghavendra Navada's coconut farm.  Anup, Swarnalatha and others from Mangalore who have been trained in climbing coconut trees with the help of machine, took part in the demonstration.  The machine was developed by Coconut Development Board and is availabe at a price of Rs. 2800.  It makes it very easy to climb a coconut tree, especially when the expert workers climbing coconut tree in normal manner are not available.   Read more

Padubidri, April 14th, 2013:  In a district level tennis ball cricket tournament held at Padubidri Board School grounds on Sunday, April 14th, strong Padubidri Friends won the "Subrahmanya Trophy-2013 and a cash award of Rs. 11,111.  Padebettu Subrahmanya Yuvaka Vrunda had organised the tournament to give a financial assistance to a local couple who have been suffering from cancer and undergoing expensive treatment.  In the final match held in the evening, Padudbidri Friends defeated Hejmady Kodi Sriram Cricketers by 21 runs. ..... A truck topples into a ditch near Bappanadu
Mulki, April 15th, 2013:  A truck carrying scrap from Mangalore to Goa toppled into a ditch near Bappanadu while trying to avert a head-on collision with a speeding vehicle coming from the opposite directrion. Co-driver Latif was injured in the incident and has been hospitalised for the further treatment.  The incident took place on NH-66, in front of Bappanadu Shri Durgaparameshwari temple. on Monday morning.  Mulki police have registered a case.

New facilities at Padubidri beach ready for inauguration
Padubidri, April 29th, 2013:  Padubidri beach has a face lift now with new facilities, such as, granite benches, shelter, toilet and interlocks.  The development was undertaken with a budget of Rs. 25 lakhs released by the tourism department.  The development work was initiated back in September 2012 when local MLA Lalaji R. Mendon has visited along with the officials of Nirmiti Kendra (R) and the district administaration.  As such, there has been a significant increase in visitors after the commissioning of two mega projects of UPCL and Suzlon.  The beach is clean and well connected by road, with adequate parking space.    See pictures
Motorcycle rider injured in an accident at Hajmady-Kannangar junction
Hejmady, April 29th, 2013:  A motorcycle rider was injured when two service buses involved in overtaking each other knocked down the motorcycle, at the inner road of Hejmady-Kannangar junction on Monday.  The motorcycle is stuck in front of the bus and its rider Ijaz Siddhapura (30) was thrown away by about 15 meters.  He has been hospitalised at KMC Mangalore.

PUC results - Govt. PU College Padubidri gets 92.53 results
Padubidri, May 6th, 2013:  Padubidri Govt. PU College achieved 92.53 results with 62 students out of 67 students passing the examinations.  From Commerce subject 33 students out of 34 students passed the examinations.  In Arts subject 26 out of 27 students have passed.  In Science, 3 students out of 6 have passed.  The science classes were started to give an option to local students seeking admission to science.  However, the college is not having a proper science laboratory due to the shortage of space.
SSLC results - Mulki:  Morarji Desai Residential school achieved 100% results.  CSI Eng. Med. school got 92% results and Kannada section got 82% results.  Shri Narayanaguru Eng. Med. school got 91% results with 100 students appearing for exams.  Shri Vyasa Maharshi Vidya Peetha school got 87.7% results with 57 students.
SSLC-2013 Results - Ganapathi High School, St. Francis Eng. Medium School Mudarangadi and Mahalaxmi Eng. Med. School Uchila achieve 100% results and Abzara from Lions Eng. Medium School scores 96.8% marks
Padubidri, May 6th, 2013:  As per the latest news available, Mudarangadi St. Francis English Medium school achieved 100 percent results with 11 distinctions.  50 students had appeared for the exam and Daneena D'Souza scored 600 marks.  From  Sagar Vidya Mandir Padubidri 38 students had appeared and 37 have passed.  7 students passed with distinction and Hithesh scored 584 marks. From Lions English Medium school, 35 students had appeared and 33 students have passed.  Abzara scored 605 marks. 4 students have passed with distinction.  Ganapathi High School Padubidri achieved 100% results with 3 distinctions and 555 marks as the highest.  Mahalaxmi Eng. Med. School Uchila achieved 100% results for the 4th consecutive time.  39 students had appeared for the exam and 7 students have passed with distinction.  Raveena Sneha Sequeira secured 592 marks.  Hejmady Al-Azar Eng. Med. school achived 95.6% results with 2 distinctions.  Uchila Sarawswati Vidya Mandira school achieved 91% results with Jagadhish securing 575 marks.
New Silver Halow taken on a procession to Kalltte Shri Jarandaya Daivasthana
