Padubidri, March 12th, 2014:  Padubidri is one of the busiest places on NH-66 and has been in the limelight due to the mega industries nearby and the controversy over highway four-laning project.  It has a well-maintained public toilet constructed around six years ago on the old KEB road,   at a distance of around 50 to 60 metres from Mangalore side bus stand.  As there are no direction signs, the visitors are clueless about its existance and roam around looking for toilet facility.  Many of them go to the nearby restaurants.         . Padubidri, March 22nd 2014:  Annual Mohotsava was celebrated at Shri Mahalingeshwara Mahaganapathi temple from 14th March to 22nd March.  'Ratharohana' was on Friday, March 21st at 11.30 a.m. and Maha Rathotsava at night.  Famous 'Chendu was played on Saturday evening at 4 p.m.,  followed by Avabrhrithasnana, Bali Uatsava.  Dhwajaavarohana from 7 p.m. onwards.  Variety cultural programmes were organised by Vanadurga Friends, Padubidri.         See more pictures of Padubidri Rathotsava, Chenud and Thootedara
Minister Vinay Kumar Sorake inaugurates "Karavali Associates" office

Unprecedented water-level rise phenomenon in Padubidri as well
Padubidri, May 2nd, 2014:  Unprecedented increase in the ground  water level as been also observed in Padubidri near Balaganesh  temple and Abbas gudde area. Although some surrounding places in  he district, such as Belman, Karkal, Udupi and Kaup, had some  spells of rain, Padubidri had not witnessed even a single drop of  rain when this water level rise phenomenon was observed. Adibailakere Devadiga Sangha lift "Devadiga Cricket" trophy in Padubidri
Padubidri, May 5th, 2014:  Adibailakere Devadiga Sangha won the "Devadiga Cricket" tournament organised by Padubidri Devadiga Sangha, at Padubidri ZP Model Primary School grounds on Sunday, May 4th.  They defeated Padubidri Devdiga Sangha in the final match.  The winners received a cash prize of Rs. 22,000 and the runners-up received Rs. 11,000.  Sudhindra Bailakere was adjudged as the "Man of the match."  Deepesh Padubidr won the "Man of the series" award.  Arun Padubidri was the best bolwer and ...  Read more

Belapu to have a new Government First Grade college from this academic year
Belapu, May 24th, 2014:  A new Government First Grade College has been sanctioned for Belapu village in Udupi district with effect from this academic year itself as recommended by the Udupi district minister-in-charge Vinay Kumar Sorake.  This was anounced by the past president of Belapu Grama Panchayat, Deviprasad Shetty.  Karnataka Government's Department of Education Joint Director, G. One person from Padubidri killed in a head-on collision between a Bolero and a bus
Padubidri, August 1st, 2014:  In a tragic road accident involving head-on collision between a Bolero SUV and an express bus, a person from Padubidri was killed.  The deceased is identified as Sampath Kumar Shetty (39) from Alangarguttu in Padubidri.  He was the owner of Balaji Finance and Sangam Chicken Stall at Padubidri market.  The incident took place near the U-turn of NH-66 near Yermal petrol bunk and Cafe Coffee Day.  The vehicle is badly damaged. NFHRC members offer help to a homeless woman from Padubidri
Padubidri, Aug. 10th, 2014:  Members of Udupi unit of National Ferderation of Human Rights Council offered help to a 42 years old homeless woman, named Varija Achary, from Abbedi in Padubidri. Living alone in a broken hut with an injury on her waist, She has been earning her living by doing some labour work here and there.  She has been also suffering from mental stress after she was seperated from her son at his early age. Udupi, Oct. 30th, 2014: Udupi district working journalist's association has appointed journalist Chethan Padubidri as the convener of Udupi Press Club. NFHRC Udupi provides home for homeles in Padubidri
Padubidri, Nov. 13th, 2014:  National Ferderation of Human Rights Council (NFHRC), Udupi District, constructed a house for a poor and  homeless woman, Varija Acharti, near "Tuluva Sangma" building area near Suzlon.  The house was inaugurated by Dr. PV Bhandary, medical  director and psychiatrist from Dr. A.V. Evacuees of NH-66 widening project at Hejmady to get alternative house sites
Hejmady, Dec. 6th, 2014:  Udupi Tahsildar Guruprasad visited the evacuees from ten houses affected by widening of NH-66 at Hejmady and assured of providing alernative house sites of 1.75 cents each in Hejmady in an area of 11 cents and others at Yellur.  These families had received notice by highway contractors Navyug constgruction to evacuate before December 15th, as they did not have RTC.  The families had refused to evacuate and with the help of local organisations, they had planned to stage aa protest.    HK Hejmady

Man commits suicide after killing a woman
Padubidri, December 17th, 2014:  In a tragic incident a man kills himself by hanging after allegedly killing a woman, in an area behind M/S PK Dojja Poojary & Sons cloth shop on NH-66 in Padubidri.  The decesaed has been identified as Naveen Devadiga (40), s/o Late Deju Devadiga, from Keri area.  The murdered woman has been identified as Tara Devadiga (38) residing near Buntara Bhavana in Padubidri and woking in a local super market.  Naveen was working as a tempo driver in local distributing agency ...  Read more

Senior leader Katapadikar Devidas Shenoy passes away
Padubidri, January 22nd, 2015:  Senior Congress leader Katapadikar Devidas Shenoy (87) passed away this morning at his residence in Padubidri.  He was the president of Padubidri Grama Panchayat during the period from 1967 to 1983 and he was also the first president of CA Sahakari Bank Okkoota of Padubidri, Hejmady and Palimar.  He was also a trustee of Padubidri Shri Mahalingeshwara Mahaganapati temple. He was the founder of Katapadikar Textiles in Paduidri.  He is survived by his wife, 3 sons and a daughter.
Padubidri Press team wins Repubolic Cup-2015 cricket tournament
Padubidri, Januiary 26th, 2015:  Padubidri Press team under the captaincy of journalist Hameed Padubidri won the Republic Cup-2015 cricket tournament organised by Rotary Club Padubidri on account of republic day.  Eight teams were invited to compete in the tournament, including Press team, Lions club, Rotary club, JCI, Police, People's representative and Bus agents teams.  In the finals, Padubidri Pess team defeated the Rotary club team and won the cup and a cash prize.  .......      Read more
K. Udayshankar Kamat from Kanjarkatte passes away
Padubidri, January 28th, 2015:  Inna Muddanu Shri Mahalingeshwara temple mangaement committee member and contractor K. Udayshankar Kamat (45) from Kanjarkette passed away on Wednesday, Januray 28th, at a private hospital in Mangalore.  He was taking  treatment for obesity and had undergone a surgery on Monday.  He was recovering from the surgery but on Wednesday morning his health deterioriated and was declared dead.  He was actively involved in various social service activities and was the founder president of Kadekunja Ayyappa temple.  He is survived by his wife and a son.
Padebettu Omayya Shetty passes away
Padubidri, February 1st, 2015:  Padebettu Shri Subrahmanya temple management advisory committee member and senior agriculturist Padebettu Omayya Shetty (76) passed away on Sunday morning at a private hospital in Mangalore after a brief period of illness.  Hailing from a Guttina family, he had started a Bhajana Mandali in Shri Subrahmanya temple around 50 years ago and was responsible for the smooth running of it till date.  He was the past vice president of Padubidr Buntara Sangha and was serving as the director in the management committee of Padebettu Djhoomavati temple.  He is survived by wife, two sons and a daughter.
"Walk for widows" marathon from Mumbai to Bangalore arrives in Padubidri
Padubidri, February 3rd, 2015:  Chris Parsons' "Walk for widows" marathon from Mumbai to Bangalore to raise funds for widows from 15 countries around the world, arrived in Padubidri on Monday morning, February 2nd, 2015.  It was welcomed at Hotel Navrang Veg by its owner Y:. Sukumar. Chris Parsons is a lawyer with an international law firm. He will be attempting to walk 30 marathons in 30 days from Mumbai to  Bangalore. Two injured in a road accident between a car and a bus near Hejmady dhaba
Padubidri, February 23rd, 2015:  A service bus entering the highway from Hejmady inner road collided with a Maruti Swift car coming from Mulki on Monday morning near Hejmady djaba on Monday around 10 am. A bus hits two vehicles near Kolnad injuring 15 persons
Mulki, February 6th, 2015:  A bus had a head-on collision with a tempo and also collided with a mini lorry carrying gas cylinders while attempting to overtake a service bus stopped at the roadside near Kolnad petrol bunk on Thursday, March 5th. Stolen car from Kinnimulky found abandoned in Padubidri
Padubidri, March 29th, 2015:  A Fiat Punto car stolen from Auto Point near Kinnimulky on Friday was found abandoned in Padubidri-Karkala road in front of Vikram Wines. on Saturday.  It has fallen off from the state highway into the service road below.  It was stolen alongwith a Hyundai i10 car from the same locality.  The stolen car had no number plate at the rear and presumably abandoned after it ran out of fuel.  There is also a possibility thet ... In an unfortunate incident in Ermayi waterfall in Belthangady on Sunday, April 19th, Dhanush Acharya (23), son of Late Prakash Acharya, from Padubidri, slipped into the waterfall and drowned.  He is survived by his mother and two brothers.
