Suzlon labour dispute and lockout issue to end
Padubidri, Nov. 29th, 2017: After the third round of talks on Wednesday, Padubidri unit of Suzlon Energy Ltd. has agreed for a compromise. In the meeting held on Tuesday the INTUC leaders and labour leaders had rejected the 20 points formula proposed by the company. Kaup MLA Vinay Kumar Sorake arrived in the evening and made both the parties to agree upon a approval formula.
Speaking on the occasion Mr. Sorake said that the lockout dispute has been resolved amicably. Regarding the points agreed upon, Mr. Sorake said, "Mainly all employees should be allowed to rejoin and all the pending cases against the 19 workers should be withdrawn immediately. Also 15 days' salary to be paid immediately." Regarding employees he said, "They should be faithful to the company and work sincerely. No increments to be demanded for one year. The production should be increased to the previous levels and they should work as per the old agreement."
Suzlon's vice president Vijay Asnani assured that an announcement on company's decision will be made within 5 days, after discussing the matter in company's meeting.
The lockout was supposed to come into effect on Wednesday. But with the intervention of Mr. Asnani who arrived from Pune the dispute could be resolved amicably after the mediation by the District administration, people's representatives and labour leaders.
DK district INTUC president Manohar Shetty spoke on the occasion and said the agreement favouring the workders has been successful and he attributed the success to INTUC. Udupi district INTUC president Ganesh Kotian, Kaup Block Congress president Naveenchandra J. Shetty, DK Disctrict Youth Congress president Mithun Rai, entrepreneurs Jeethendra Shetty Mumbai and Subhash Shetty, Taluk panchayat member Dinesh Kotian, INTUC state committee's Abuabakkar and Suresh, Steven D'Souza, labour leaders Keerthiraj, Sandeep, Manjunath, Daniel Allen, Sharath Kumar, ASPEN's Ashok Kumar Shetty, Suzlon HR GM Anandi Sathi, plant head Dakshinamurthy and others were present.
Media persons were denied entry on Wednesday as well.
