Engineers Day celebrated by Manipal university students in Palimar Chitralaya Art Gallery
Padubidri, Sept. 15th, 2017: Engineers day was celebrated by the students of Manipal university's faculty of architecture at artist Venky Palimar;s Chitralaya art gallery in Palimar on Sept. 15th. A group of 15 students lead by Asst. Prof. Tejaswini are undergoing a three-day training on clay modelling in Palimar.
In the clay modelling workshop the students attracted attention by building forts in ruins, Eiffel tower, lighthouses in ancient forts, Bekal fort and other models. Also they built laughing Buddha, crocodile, tortoise, dinosaur, boat riding, aliens face in Qutub Minar, mermaid, tabla, basket, African Goddess, waiting eagle, destruction of environment, tribal masks, US President Donal Trump's childhood face mask and other interesting clay models. The team got backing by Terracotta artist Venky Palimar and sand sculpture artist Srinath Manipal.
Speaking on the occasion Venky Palimar said that he had plans to celebrate Engineers day and Sir M. Vishweswarayya's birthday in an unique manner. "To make it possible, The students arrived here and showed interest in learning clay modelling. They were given free hand to build forts in ruins as per their liking. They responded excellently and have consructed around 15 clay models," he said.
Prof Tejaswini said that the local environment was highly suitable for learning. "We have students right from Jammu Kashmir to Kanyakumari and all have participated with enthusiasm. They have shown interest in visiting this place again," she said.
Manjesh Katpadi spoke on behalf of the students and opined that it was an unique learning experience with students getting involved in clay modelling as complementary to architecture.
Balaram Bhat, Umesh Kamath, Chitra Kamath, Jyoti Pinto, Laren Pinto and others were present during the occasion.
