Indo-German love affair at sea and wedding in Udupi
Padubidri, June 18th, 2017: Bharat Kumar from Hejamady working on board a German cruise ship will be marrying his shipmate Rebecca Maria Opitz from Frankfurt Germany, as per HIndu traditon on June 18th at Shamili hall Udupi. Bharat Kumar's parents Karunakar and Sharada Karkera, residing at Mata Amrut Kripa in Karkera compound, are happy to receive Rebecca as their daughter-in-law.
Bharat Kumar has been working on board a German cruise ship company "Aida" cruises for the last 4 years in Food & Beverages department. Rebecca is a post-graduate in Arts (M.A.) and has been working in the same company for the last 3 years as Art Gallery Executive. After meeing on an elevator and falling in love two years back, they had decided about their marriage. When Bharat informed his family when he was on leave, they all agreed happily. He had also brought Rebecca along with him. In the meantime, Rebecca's familhy also agreed to the wedding. Their engagement took place at Hotel Suraj in Suratkal on April 22nd as per Hindu traditions.
After marriage, Bharat and Rebecca have decided continue working on the cruise ships for the next 2 - 3 years and settle down back in India. Rebecca is learning Tulu and she is fond of local food masala dosa, kori rotti and sea food.
Bharat's Mehendi was held at his residence on June 16th. The wedding will be held as per Hindu traditions with Rebecca wearing sari and Karimani chain. Haridas Bhat from Hejmady will be performing marriage rituals. Eleven relaties including Rebecca's eleder sister will be arriving from Frankfurt to attend the wedding.
The wedding reception will be held for German friends at Sultan Baattery in Mangalore in the evening. Rebecca will be wearing traditional German attire for the ceremony.
